COVER & RELEASE DATE REVEAL: The Roots in Your Bones

It feels a bit unhinged to be announcing my second release this year, but it’s happening!

I’m releasing my second book, an adult folk horror, The Roots in Your Bones, on September 19th, 2023 in ebook and paperback!

The Roots in Your Bones is a story I feel incredibly passionate about. Not only is it the story of a young woman reinventing herself after the end of a long term relationship, but it does include some loose elements of my experience with getting divorced before 30. Because there are some personal elements to this story, I do want to clarify that Marisa’s ex husband is not based on my own and her relationship’s backstory is purely fictional.

This story also is an experiment I take great pride in. I am a huge fan of T. Kingfisher’s horror novels as well as Rachel Harrison’s writing style, because both combine lightness and comedic moments among the horror. As a millennial, I find my generation to rely on humor and sarcasm to get through the hardest moments of their life, and I wanted to reflect that in this story. At times, it might have tones reminiscent of women’s lit or comedy, and that is intentional along with the folk horror elements.

All that being said, check out the beautiful, creepy cover designed by GrimPoppyDesign! I’m so excited!

You can currently pre-order an ebook here, and paperback preorders will be available soon.

Thank you all for your support.

I Designed Some Merch!

Because I have the attention span of a guacamole, I found myself wandering down the path of creating some designs for merch! I had a ton of fun, especially as a person whose wardrobe is approximately 99% band, brewery, or other merch. Why not make my own!? My first design includes my girl Jola, my original rescue pet and inspiration, hollering about supporting indie horror.

You can get some by clicking the image below or visiting THIS LINK. Whatever I make from my little merch shop will support my upcoming work.

I’ve got designs on stickers, dog bandanas, apparel, hats (INCLUDING BUCKET HATS!), and more. Definitely check it out.
